The Spotlight feed supports public and private Snap accounts. It will feature a range of short video clips, both from public and private Snap accounts, and will let users submit their videos direct to the Spotlight feed for consideration. “We built Spotlight to be a place where anyone’s content can take center stage – without needing a public account, or an influencer following. It’s a fair and fun place for Snapchatters to share their best Snaps and see perspectives from across the Snapchat community,” said Snapchat on its official blog post. Spotlight will showcase short videos in a vertically scrollable feed format. Snapchat says Spotlight will “shine a light on the most entertaining Snaps created by the Snapchat community”. The feature is accessible in a new fifth tab in the app and the Spotlight feed will work on a similar algorithm to TikTok, to rank each clip based on engagement. The Snaps must also adhere to Snapchat’s new Spotlight Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Spotlight Terms.
