What is Blob Opera all about?
Blob Opera game or experiment features four cute-little blobs singing an opera. To be more precise, the musical experiment model utilizes machine learning to make the quartet sync and sing in harmony like a live performing opera. Google wrote in its blog post, “We developed a machine learning model trained on the voices of four opera singers in order to create an engaging experiment for everyone, regardless of musical skills. Tenor, Christian Joel, bass Frederick Tong, mezzo-soprano Joanna Gamble and soprano Olivia Doutney recorded many hours of singing.” However, the blog also clarifies that in the experiment what we hear isn’t the voice of the four actual singers but rather the machine learning model’s understanding of what opera singing sounds like based on what it learned from the opera singers.
