The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 12.3.1, using the most current version of the Pokemon Go app available when this article was written. Note that you need to be in close physical proximity to your friend to engage in a battle challenge, unless you are ultra or best friends. Step 1: Open Pokemon Go.
