What if You Have a Google Account?
In most cases, you will be using Google Maps with your Google account in which case the places are can be saved into default lists which come in two main categories namely ‘Favorites’ and ‘Starred’. However, you may also create your own list according to the locations you are saving. Whether you are using an Android phone or an iPhone or even a laptop version of Google Map, the process of saving your favourite location will be the same.
How to Save Favourite Places in Google Maps?
First things first. You need to search for the place that you would want to save as one of your favourite locations in order to save it in the Google Map app. The location information card that displays the address of the place will be opened by a click.Just below the address in the Overview Tab you will get to see a number of options after Directions, one of them being the ‘Save’ option.
When you click on the ‘Save’ button, you will see a list dropping down, asking for the category under which you would want to save the selected place.As reiterated, you will have the two options of Starred and Favorites as default Google Maps saving options. If you wish to save the place in both the categories tick both Starred and Favorites or else go above to tap on the New List option which will give you the liberty to save the place under a category of your choice such as ‘Mom’s Place’ or ‘Work’ etc. You may also add a brief description or note against the place you are saving.Once you have added your place under any of the lists, go above beside the Save to List bar and press ‘Done’.You can now access all your saved places from the ‘Save’ button on the main home screen of your Google Maps app.
If you are using Google Maps website, you need to open the same through Google Chrome or some other browser and search for the location that you would want to save. Similar to the app version, you will come across the ‘Save’ button in the location information menu just below the address of the place. Once you have saved your place as a Favorite, Starred or some other place saved under New List and clicked on ‘Done’, you will be able to find your favourite places from the three-lines that you can find in the Search box. Now you can select ‘Your Places’ from the drop-down menu, click on the ‘Saved’ tab and then click on it to see all the list of places you have saved. Knowing how to save favourite places in Google Maps does not only come handy to find your frequently visited locations, but also while searching for places which you may not always remember the names of and may not be able to recall in order to type.
