Apple started taking pre-orders for its iPhone 5 yesterday at 3:01 am and within an hour, online shoppers were told it’s sold out. All online shoppers visiting the Apple Store were told that the orders for iPhone 5 won’t ship for at least two weeks. Just as the online site opened for pre-orders, there was a blowup of demand, which made it all sold out for 21st Sept. However, opportunity for those in Washington was still open, as at around 10 am, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint were still taking pre-orders for shipping estimates of Sept. 21. The iPhone 5- long-awaited smartphone of the year has been revamped with small notable changes that have made it the latest and technologically upgraded choice. Made of sleek glass and aluminum, Apple has made the iPhone 5, 12 percent less in volume, 18 percent thinner, and 20 percent lighter than the iPhone 4S. The phone is the sleekest, largest, fastest iPhone that Apple has ever made. Following the announcement, Apple shares opened at a record high Friday at $689.96 per share, and kept soaring, hitting $694 by 3 pm. The smartphone is clearly a hit, it’s the best Apple has ever launched. But for those who still need more convincing, let’s take a look at the iPhone5 pros and cons: Thin and Sleek: The iPhone 5 is taller, thinner, and lighter than its predecessors. This phone boasts a 4-inch screen than iPhone 4S, which makes it a great choice for watching HD videos and reading. The iPhone 5 weighs 112grams, and is 20 percent lighter than the iPhone 4S, which surely makes it a pro. Stunning Retina Display: Along with a bigger display, iPhone 5 also has a larger Retina display, with 18 percent more pixels for 1136-by-640 resolution as compared to 4S. The latest Apple smartphone has 44 percent greater color saturation than before with an improved camera sensor. This feature also makes the phone a pro. Faster Performance and Graphics: The new iPhone 5 runs on an A6 chip, which runs twice as fast as the A5 chip in the iPhone 4S. With A6 chip, users can get a better mobile gaming experience, along with faster web surfing. 4G LTE: The 4G LTE technology of iPhone 5 will offer ultrafast wireless speed, making it much easier to consume data online. This fourth generation feature is also available on Apple’s iPad. A Smaller and Smarter Connector: With iPhone 5, Apple has changed the trend of using 30-pin connector, which was used to charge the iPhone 4S. iPhone 5 will come with a small connector, which is made with a all-digital, eight-signal design. Called Lightning, the new dock connector will have faster transfer speeds. Pricing: As with all Apple latest release, iPhone 5 is also priced a little high. The iPhone 5 makes an expensive purchase at $199 and up. This could be a con as there are many other smartphones out in the market, which come with similar features at a much lower cost including Samsung, Android phones, and Windows phones. Considering all the updated features and the fact that Apple sold-out all pre-orders within one hour is surely impressive. As with all previous launches, this release by Apple has also drawn big lines outside the stores, which surely makes the iPhone a hit already, even with a hole in the pocket!
