Sony sent an email to all PS4 users saying, “Thank you for using the PS Communities feature on your PS4 console. Beginning in April 2021, this feature will no longer be supported or available on your PS4 console. However, you’ll still be able to stay connected and enjoy messaging features and more on your PS4 and the PlayStation App.”
What is PS4 Communities Feature?
The PS4 Communities feature was launched in 2015. Since then, there are thousands of communities in the PS4 network, which includes a mix of official communities and fan-created groups. It also comprises of gaming enthusiasts on the basis of their activities. Communities served as on-console groups where players joined together with PS4 owners sharing similar interests. Within a Community, players could post messages, form parties and jump into game sessions. In 2020, Sony removed the Communities app from iOS and Android stores owing to the lack of regular active users. The company further took a step and completely removed the communities feature in PS5. Instead of building communities, Sony has shifted its focus towards social efforts with alterations in the way the party chats work. It has also decided to group friends and chats together in Game Base on the PS5 system software. You Might Also Like: PS5 VS PS4: Which One Is Better? Gaming Comparison
