Samsung has added a new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich based smartphone to its assortment. Named Samsung Galaxy Chat, this phone is dedicated to all those who are addicted to texting and social networking. Therefore, it is designed keeping in mind the needs of socially active users. Samsung said that it will be launching Galaxy Chat first in Spain and eventually it will be made available in other markets including Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, and Southwest Asia. Also the company did not say anything about its price, but they surely promised a competitive price. Sharing its looks with Blackberry Smartphone, Galaxy Chat supports a 3-inch capacitive touch screen with QVGA 240 x 320 pixels resolution. Its other specifications include QWERTY keypad, a 2MP camera, 4GB of built-in storage and a slot for a microSD card. The phone will run on Android 4.0 ICS OS. As already mentioned, that this phone is designed for socially active users, Samsung has taken care to add a dedicated key, ChatON service for the convenience of its users. This key will be displayed on the keyboard, which will let the user message and group chat with text, animations and images at the touch of one click. For connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Chat supports USB 2.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0. It comes with a 1200mAh battery that provides up to five hours of talk time or nearly 16 days of standby. It measures in at 11.7mm thick and weighs 112 grams. Other attractions include Quick Office app which will make it easy for the user to view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. Furthermore, Galaxy Chat is also equipped with swipe app that will let the user quickly launch the camera and view notifications from the local screen and also instantly dismiss them. On introducing its new Smartphone Samsung said, “Navigating the phone’s app menus is a breeze with more visual icons incorporating 3D effects, a fully customizable Favorites tray, and widgets that you can resize or reposition according to your preferences.” However, now all that needs to be seen is how Samsung prices this model and how well it is accepted in the market.
